2017-03-21 LK opens the gates of its new logistics centre

Pressrelease 2017-03-21

LK opens the gates of its new logistics centre

In April, LK will open the gates of its new logistics centre in Ulricehamn, increasing the Group’s storage capacity and making deliveries to customers even more efficient. The company has invested 50 million SEK in the new facilities, and hired 14 newemployees.

The new logistics centre will store HVAC products and PEX pipes, and so the LK Group’s storage capacity will be more than doubled; from 3 000 to 8 000 square metres. LK has hired 14 new employees as storage workers, forklift drivers, and team leaders, all of whom have been recruited from the Ulricehamn area. In total, the company has invested roughly 50 million SEK in terms of construction efforts and equipment purchases.

– With larger facilities that are better adapted to their purpose, our logistics flow will improve. Over the course of the first six months, we will work continuously to optimise the storage area in terms of both operations and systems, says Supply Chain Manager Mats Gustavsson.

LK has outgrown its old storage facilities in Malmö, which are currently in the process of being emptied. Geographically speaking, Ulricehamn has a strategic location, allowing LK to more easily reach its largest customers and the Gothenburg harbour logistics junction. Shorter distances and coordination gains will lead to reduced transportation and carbon dioxide emissions. Another positive aspect for the environment is that the heating of the new facilities will be recycled from LK’s pipe factory, which is located next door.

– This solution makes sense for both our customers and us. We are now well equipped to meet the increased demands involved in ensuring rapid and safe deliveries, says Fredrik Svensson, Marketing Manager.

LK has shown strong and stable growth in recent years. Its success is partly due to the continued growth of the self-developed HVAC systems for underfloor heating and tap water.

– The prognosis for the next few years is very promising due to, for example, the continued strong trend of building housing that has been forecast, and an increasing demand for prefabricated HVAC solutions, says Fredrik Svensson.
